Passage to Ponder
By“For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” -Hebrews 4:12(ESV)
In our my way, right away, Burger King, and Daytona 500 paced lifestyle we are always looking for convenient talk shows, talk radio, (xm radio) clips, articles, blogs,blanket text messages,(you know the ones that if you don’t send to 10 people your not really a Christian! Give me a break!) e-mails, etc. etc. that will inspire and impact our lives in a positive way. The crazy thing is that on any subject matter or facet of our life that is need of a drastic make-over, we trust more in these convenient resources and their authors, and really don’t know what they believe to be truth theologically, spiritually, mentally, or morally!
Ok, let’s say we do know something about the character of these individuals that we allow to sow into our lives regularly through word or practice of life, could there be anyone on the planet that could assist us an help us through the tumultuous waters of the daily grind better than Jesus? Just a thought! We are a “Sponge Bob” culture that is always in soak up search engine mode, often in information overload, from negative and positive resources, and the resources that we are relying on are apparently letting us down! We as a nation have never been more overweight, over worked, over stressed, and in need of a major over haul make-over in every category of our lives! Back up that bus! Really! If this is true, and it is! Check or Google the stats! We need to revert back to a ”Resource” that has always been relevant to any culture, era, or people group that has ever existed on this planet. Are you ready for the answer? Drum roll please!……..The Holy Word of God-The Bible!
Yeah, that dusty old piece of literature written thousands of years ago, some in the black only lettering, or black and red lettering. You know, the book that is in the floor board of the car, in your backpack, in your locker, on the church pew where you sit at your assigned seat at church, or the book that is in the family room that we only look at or read for special occasions. Sometimes it is the book that accentuates the decor of the family living room and collects dust like the rest of our furniture! The book that is always on the #1 most copies sold chart in the world every year, but is seldom read, and studied, and the truths of it ever applied to the lives of the reader! As a nation we have tried every other resource and outlet that we can to enhance or better our lives on every level! So why not try this one? I promise, once you have read the pages of the written Word of God, that is alive and active, and relevant to any situation you could find yourself in, like matters of the heart , the body, the mind, and yes even the eternal soul and(BIG “and” here) allow your heart to invite the Author-God, through His Son Jesus in your life, to reside in you through His Holy Spirit; then you will never look for another Source(Jesus) or Resource(The Bible) ever again to influence your life in any way! His Word is the final Word and the only absolute Word in the World! Hey, you have tried everything else by process of elimination to become the resolve for your life! Why not try Jesus Christ?
