June 2010 Angel Food Distribution and News
Posted by: | CommentsWe have truly been blessed here at FBC-St. Joseph in regards to the ministry of Angel Food. It has blessed us in three outstanding ways. The first way is through the obedience of God’s Word! We know that God has called His Church the “Body of Christ” to feed those who are hungry, give drink to the thirsty and clothing to the naked. Angel Food has been the platform that the Lord has used for us to fulfill His purpose for us in regard to this command from our Lord. (Matthew 25:31-46)
Secondly, we have been blessed by having the opportunity to get food to individuals and families that have been struggling financially as all of us have encountered in some shape and form from the rippling effects of our staggering economy. In the winds of a recessionary period this is a food program that truly lightens the financial burden of the cost of groceries without compromising the quality of what you are accustomed to eating. What a blessing!
Lastly, this has been a ministry that has brought our dynamic and very diverse “Body of Believers” together as one “Family” to collectively carry out the work of the Lord in regards to feeding people. Men and women, college students, teenagers and even children have continued to donate their time to the ministry effort. To date, our Angel Food Ministry is one of the largest and most productive ministries in our fellowship. God is allowing us to touch His Heart and touch the lives of those living around us “one box at a time!” Angel Food offers a variety of balanced nutritional food to feed a family of four for about one week for $30.00. Angel Food also offers variety of other boxes of fruit and vegetables, allergen-free boxes, convenience meal boxes, and meat boxes of all varieties.
Please pray for us in the days to come as the Lord has laid on our hearts to endeavor to reach out farther into the surrounding counties in the days and weeks to come. For example: (Lauderdale Co. in Al., and Wayne Co. in Tn.)
This extension of our ministry will include cities like: Lexington, Greenhill, Killen, and Florence in Alabama, and Iron City, Collinwood, Holly Creek, and Waynesboro in Tennessee.

Our Missions project this year is supporting one of the local troops that is heading to Iraq. There are several families connected through the church that have family members, such as sons, daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc. that are headed to Iraq in the next month or so. We, as TeamKID have chosen to support and send boxes of goods to these soldiers to show them that we care about them and also to show the love of God through what we are doing for them. So in order fund this project we are having a fundraiser. Swamp Johns will be at our church, on March 27, 2010. Please come out for a great night of fellowship and help our local Missions project to support our troops!

“Dare To Love”
Posted by: | CommentsCome be a part of our new young adult married small group bible study here at the church. We will be offering this life changing Bible study on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am and on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m, for 10-12 weeks, beginning February 14th. This study is based on the world renowned movie, “Fireproof.” In a home there are several different relationships that make up what is called a family! However there is only one relationship in the home that is to be the foundation that keeps the whole family together! The Marriage relationship! In the real world when life throws us it’s many curve balls that cause many hardships and difficult situations, the relationship that has to endure most of the strain and stress is the one between husband and wife! In this day and time there are too many marriages that are “burning to the ground” so to speak and that is why we feel that it is necessary to do everything we can to reach out and offer with God’s Word a “fireproof” plan for the marriage! We have called this study, “DARE TO LOVE!” With this thought being the entire purpose: “Dare to love your spouse like Christ! Through Christ! Unconditionally!” If you are a young adult couple that is married or married with children or know someone who is in this time and season of their lives, invite them and come along with them to grow closer to God, and closer to your spouses that God has given you! We hope to see you on Valentine’s Day or before!
God Bless,
-FBC St. Joseph

Canoe – Sermon Series
Posted by: | Comments
Check out the series here!
Have you ever been canoeing and your nautical partners that were in the boat with you did not have the same dreams, desires, and disciplines when it came to keeping the canoe pointed in the direction that would ultimately bring you to your appointed destination? Yeah! What an experience! But not a good one nonetheless! This also happens spiritually in the dynamic of Christ’s most priceless and precious watercraft-The Church! The destination of Christ’s Church is Heaven, but there could probably be a lot of water to sail on in this life before we arrive. That’s why it is very important that we are very aware as a “Vessel” or “Canoe” of the “Compass” the Word of God that He has given us. He has given us this tool of spiritual travel to lead us through the raging waters of life, and to keep us pointed in the direction that pleases Him, and by reaching out to those who are drowning in our path. Aboard the “Canoe” or “Church” there are many members that make up its “Rowing Team” that are equipped with many different gifts and talents that are used as the “Paddles” of the Church’s ministries. See, the problem is not that the Church is not a “Winning Team” or that it is a “Vessel” that can be sunk! The problem is that the Church is made up of a “Crew” that has a choice to make! The Church, which is made up of born again believers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, can choose to row when Christ commands or not and that is the problem! Too many believers in the Church today have decided to become the captain of their own canoe! When we don’t paddle on His command we are hindering the overall plan, position, and purpose that He has for the Church and for our individual lives. The only way that the Church will advance for the Kingdom of God and His Glory is that they stay in the “Canoe”- The Church, remain aware of where we are, where we have been, and where we are going by using the greatest navigational tool ever given, the “Compass)” or the Bible; by continual work with His “Crew”- The Body of Christ; by using our spiritual gifts and talents, our “Paddles or Oars”-to move when and to where He tells us. He has called us to cast our nets and fish for those who are lost at sea in the dark and deep “Sea of Sin” that we were all born into due to the sinful fall of man. He has called us to a search and rescue mission! Will we accept? People are drowning as we speak and procrastinate so get in the boat, and start paddling! Remember it is not God’s will that any should perish or “drown”, it is the opposite! His will is that everyone would believe on the name of Jesus the Son of God and place their faith and trust in Him for forgiveness of sins that they have committed against Him so that they can have eternal life in Heaven! (John 3:16)

Vacation Bible School- “Where Kids build their lives on the Rock-Jesus!”
Posted by: | Comments“See what kind of love that the Father has given to us, that we should be called the Children of God.” (1 John 3:1)-ESV
Hey kids have you been on a camping adventure this summer? Maybe you have and maybe you haven’t , but I can assure you that you have not experienced a summer camp quite like this one! This year we have decided to select a kids summer camp format for our “Vacation Bible School.” We at First Baptist Church St. Joseph are so excited to see what God is going to do in the lives of the student “campers” this year in and through the teaching of His Word! We look forward to this great opportunity to share our ”FAITH” we have in Christ Jesus with the “campers” of this year’s VBS through God’s perfect Word that was written for all to hear! We look forward to the fellowship that we will have with them through the eating of some tasty camp “FOOD!” And last but definitely not least we look forward to the “FUN” that we will have with them playing all the camp games that we have scheduled to play! So come on out and join in all the fun that we are going to have in Christ beginning with our “Family Fun Day” on the 21st of June. This is a Saturday and the festivities will begin at 6 pm! This will be the kickoff and the pre-registration for our kids camp, and also we will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs for the community that day! As if that is not enough our youth will also be having a car wash to raise money for their summer trip this year, and who doesn’t need that? Our vacation bible school kids camp will begin the next monday on the 22nd of June and go through the 26th and end with a commencement service for those who attended our camp. We will close the camp with a pool party at the Loretto pool on saturday! The times for this will be announced at the kids camp! So whatever you do, do not miss our VBS this year its gonna “ROCK”- like JESUS!
