Deficit – Luke 4:16-30
Posted by: | Comments
16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18 “ The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”
23He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.’” 24 Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country. 25 But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; 26but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”
28 So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. 30 Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way.

Evaporate – James 4:13-17
Posted by: | Comments13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will[a] go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
The Lord reminded us of the fragility of life through this passage! No one knows how long he or she has until there life may come to an end on this side of eternity. He (James) illustrated our lives as a droplet of moisture that only exists through the night until the morning sun causes it to “evaporate” at daybreak. In this biblical example the drop is our life! The morning is rapidly approaching! Evaporation is inevitable! Doesn’t this illustration put our lives into great perspective? In these verses in James chapter four he encourages us not to make plans in this life without God. He didn’t say not to plan, but that we should proclaim that God’s will be done in our lives. He warned us of the evil of arrogance in planning our lives by ourselves and for ourselves! To summarize: God wants us to DEPEND ON HIM, not live lives that are INDEPENDENT FROM HIM! If you are a Christian you know Who you are to be serving! Ask the Lord to reveal to you what you are to be doing to lead others to Him! Make sure your ”DROP”(your LIFE) makes a difference in the world for Christ and His Kingdom! We have been created to make a positive impact in this world we live in for the Jesus! That’s why you are here! What are you waiting for? Hurry! The sun is going to rise soon!

July 2009 Angel Food Distribution and News
Posted by: | Comments
We have truly been blessed here at FBC-St. Joseph in regards to the Ministry of Angel Food. It has blessed us in three outstanding ways. The first way is through the obedience of God’s Word! We know that God has called His Church the “Body of Christ” to feed those who are hungry,give drink to the thirsty, and clothing to the naked, and Angel Food has been the platform that the Lord has used for us to fulfill His purpose for us in regard to this command from our Lord. (Matthew 25:31-46)
Secondly we have been blessed by having the opportunity to get food to individuals and families that have been struggling financially as all of us have encountered in some shape and form from the rippling effects of our staggering economy. In the winds of a recessionary period this is a food program that truly lightens the financial burden of the cost of groceries without compromising the quality of what you are accustomed to eating. What a blessing!
Lastly this has been a ministry that has brought our dynamic and very diverse “Body of Believers” together as one “Family” to collectively carry out the work of the Lord in regards to feeding people. Men and women,college students,teenagers, and even children have continued to donate their time to the Ministry effort. To date, our Angel Food Ministry is one of the largest and most productive ministries in our fellowship. God is allowing us to touch His Heart and touch the lives of those living around us “one box at a time!”
Please pray for us in the days to come as the Lord has laid on our hearts to endeavor to reach out farther into the surrounding counties in the days and weeks to come. For example: (Lauderdale Co. in Al., and Wayne Co. in Tn.)
This extension of our minsitry will include cities like: Lexington, Greenhill, Killen, and Florence in Al., and Iron City, Collinwood, and Holly Creek, and Waynesboro in Tn.
