The Boatwrights in Concert!
Posted by: | CommentsFBC St. Joseph is glad to announce that The Boatwrights will be singing at our church on Sunday, April 19th at 6 p.m. We are very excited to have these ladies come and lead us in a night of worship and praise to God! For more info on The Boatwrights you can go to their MySpace page… The Boatwrights on Myspace Music. While you’re there take a listen to a few of their songs including their new single “Lost” that some of you may have heard on your local Christian radio stations! Here a little more info about The Boatwrights from their MySpace page:
“Elizabeth and Shelley Boatwright are twins from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, who have been singing on stage since the age of seven. Their tight harmony and upbeat Southern style have delighted audiences, both young and old, since they started singing at their church. Although they are identical twins, their blend is unique in that Elizabeth has a strong alto voice and Shelley complements her with a clear, crisp soprano voice. Next to their love for God, music is the most important thing to The Boatwrights. They grew up watching Gaither videos with their dad and learning to love the old hymns that are now so seldom heard. New arrangements of old standards such as Amazing Grace, Redeemed, and I’d Rather Have Jesus are some of their favorites. The most important aspect of The Boatwrights’ music, however, is the message it presents. It is a message of hope amidst a downward-spiraling world. Their genre has been described as soulful with a country flair, allowing a vast audience to identify with their repertoire. Elizabeth and Shelley often begin their services by announcing that they are not just here to entertain, but to lead the congregation in a worship experience to usher in the presence of God that the world so desperately needs today. But the girls do like to have fun on stage as well, picking fun at each other and telling their “twin stories” of growing up as close siblings. Although the girls occupy the stage, Boatwright Ministries is a family ministry made up of many members who work behind the scenes as well. Their dad, Rickey, is their manager and sound man and devotes much time into the ministry. Their mother, Lana, can be found working at the product table and helping out before services. Shelley’s husband of two years, Matt, is known as “the roadie” and sets up the heavy equipment. Together, Boatwright Ministries focuses on the importance of serving God as individuals as well as a family.”
Hope to see you all there!
